The Jamaica Flag flies high in front of the Manhattan mega hotel on Park Avenue. As they celebrate Caribbean Week. The Waldorf Astoria was displaying the Jamaica Flag. During the Caribbean week in NYC. Each year from June 1st – 8th. To promote Caribbean vacation.
The event is organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization. To showcase the Caribbean Islands. As huge vacation discounts were offered. Brand Jamaica took full advantage of the business opportunities. They got the word out on why folks should choose Jamaica.
Brand Jamaica and Jamaica Tourist Board took advantage of the world stage and the media outlets. They sponsored Chef Brian Lumley to appear on national broadcast Fox TV morning show “FOX & Friends” on June 4th.
Chef Lumley showed off his culinary skills. He did this at Bloomingdale’s department store in Manhattan all courtesy of the Jamaica Tourist Board. Jamaica Tourist Board continues to promote Brand Jamaica as the Caribbean hotspot and the vacation destination of choice.
When Minister of Tourism Dr. Wykeham McNeill discovered New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was in Jamaica and had to cut his trip short. Dr. McNeil was unaware of the Governor’s trip to Jamaica. However, he was not surprised when he visited Bran Jamaica.

Dr. McNeill went on to say, “We have always had that potential to pull big names to our shores. It’s brand Jamaica that we are talking about. We have a tremendous tourism product in Jamaica. Over the years, we have attracted people from all over the world. This includes Ian Fleming to Errol Flynn who wrote James Bond 007 movies. Jamaica has been the ultimate vacation destination. As the saying goes, “Once you go, you know.”
As brand Jamaica continues to showcase the island around the world. Many Jamaican takes great pride and honor to see how the brand is receiving recognition. It was with great honor to see Jamaican track star Usain Bolt at the French Open Final. He’s a six-time Olympic Champion. He was there as a guest at the Tennis French Open Final. He was there to present the winning trophy to Rafael Nadal.
As Caribbean Week closed, Brand Jamaica’s presents were front and center. They’re ready and folks are geared up for the summer and families are planning their vacation.
