It’s located in the Parish of Westmoreland. The café was founded in 1974 by Richard “Rick” Hershman. The one-and-a half acre stony cliff side property was purchase from Dr. Winston Campbell. Doctor Campbell was the son of Jamaica’s first native Governor General, Sir Clifford Campbell. Rick’s Café was the first restaurant and bar on Negril West End.

Jamaica’s famous Seven Mile Beach is also located in Negril. This beautiful beach with soft white sand and tantalizing turquoise water stretches across two parishes. Whether you decide to jog, walk and or bar hop the full length of the beach you will be walking from Westmoreland to Hanover.

Success is Never Easy

Over the years, Rick’s Café establishment has grown into one of the most successful if not the most successful bar and restaurant on the island. In 1988 there was widespread destruction of the café from Hurricane Gilbert. The devastation required major rebuild with the intention of making it better as a result.

The hurricane did a heck of a job and caused major damage to the cafe. The ruin of the business required a significant undertaking to return the café back to business as usual.
