Curry shrimp, an authentic Jamaican dish for the sea food lovers.

Enjoy this meal as often as you wish. Serve with white rice, rice & peas or an assortment of vegetables.

Curry shrimp can have a nice kick to it and is one of the more popular Jamaican dishes. The sweetness of the shrimp pairs nicely with the curry and other spices. Although typically served over rice, shrimp curry can be served in a variety of ways with any number of side dishes

Ingredients:

2 lbs        Shrimps (fresh or frozen, shell removed).

¼ cup     Curry powder

½ tsp      Allspice pimento powder

¼ cup    Ocho Rios Jerk “All in One” dry Seasoning.

½ cup     water

½             Bell pepper, red

½             Bell pepper, green

1              Onion, medium

Onion, thyme, scallions, garlic, pimento and salt (included in Ocho Rios Jerk “All in One” dry seasoning) optional: add based on likeness.

 

 

Preparation:

Wash shrimps, drain water and add Ocho Rios Jerk All in One dry Seasoning and Allspice. Mix seasoning together with shrimps in a bowl and cover. Thinly slice onion, belle peppers and any optional seasonings used.

Cooking Instructions:

Add water, onion, bell peppers, all seasonings and curry powder in skillet on medium fire.

Cover skillet and cook on medium fire stirring occasionally.

Once the Bell peppers are cook and become medium soft.

  1. Add shrimps to skillet, stir and cook for about 5 – 10 minutes.
  2. Reduce fire for 2 minutes or until done.

Cooking notes & health tips:

Yes, curry has been linked to detoxifying and joint health.  Study at the University of Kansasin 2006, suggest turmeric which is an ingredient in curry powder helps to prevent joints swelling.
