Reggae Concert “Groovin in the Park” NYC 2014
Groovin in the Park 2014 dubbed the biggest and the best annual show in NYC once again lived up to the bill. The show went on as planned as music lovers turned out in their thousands to see the star studded line-up. Well as the saying goes, “The fans make the artist”, well all the artist performances say, “Thank You Very Much.”
All the artists brought their A-Game. The show started with the singing sensation group LUST who had the crowd rocking backed by Derrick Barnett and the Statement Band. Marcia Griffiths and friends followed and backed by the 809 Band. Marcia’s friends included her longtime friend from the I-Three’s with Bob Marley, Judy Mowatt, legendary songwriter Bob Andy, Mr. Tony Gregory, and Ken Booth. The audience was thrilled with the performances and the hit songs down memory lane.
Next up was the young sensation Chronixx & the Zinc Fence Redemption Band. Chronixx brought the younger version of positive messages in his songs for the young and young at heart. He delivered a great performance on stage with his hit songs. Chronixx appears to be a great dancer but mellowed out to match his music but delivered a great performance.
Now it was time for Beres “The Boss” Hammond to perform. As the band started playing and The Boss walked on stage the crowd went into frenzy. The crown was on their feet, and all eyes were on Beres singing along with hits after hits and “Rockaway” which is the title of one of Beres many hit songs. With one lovers rock hit song after another, Beres spoke to the men in the audience and says, “You guys can’t complain, you reap the reward” as the crowd was holding their belly laughing. The audience was totally mesmerized as Beres and The Harmony House Band delivered another black-buster performance.
Closing out the show was the big bad Australian duo Air Supply with lead singer Russell Hitchcock and singer songwriter and lead guitarist Graham Russell.
