It seems like just yesterday that I was at Showtime at the Apollo Theater in Harlem New York. I was there to watch my daughter performed at amateur night in 1999. The show was going great with many different acts performing. Then it was my daughter Nicole’s turn to sing and she sang lovely, in fact all the contestants sang beautifully up to that point.

The show was hosted by funnyman Steve Harvey who kept the audience entertained between performances. All of a sudden the next performance was a Jamaican rapper by the name Sasquatch who automatically Tun-It-Up (Turned it up) just by walking on stage. Funny man, Steve Harvey was being himself using Sasquatch as the joke, but the audience loved every moment of it. Sasquatch came to perform that night and level the place, just about everyone was on their feet.

I had to big up Sasquatch that night, yes I am a Jamaican but it was more than that, he came to entertainer, he Tun-it- up. During these competitions, the winner is based on the loudest cheers and applauses. Therefore, when I joined the cheers, it was going to be at my daughter’s expense but it was Sasquatch night.

Check out this Jamaican Classic , at The Showtime at the Apollo.
