Grand Palladium Jamaica

Grand Palladium Jamaica is a resort and spa in Lucea, which is just down the coast from Montego Bay on the northwestern part of the island. Its beachfront location makes it a prime spot for an idyllic retreat. The resort is suitable for guests of all ages, so it’s ideal for families as well as solo travelers and couples. Grand Palladium Jamaica boasts many facilities for you to enjoy, as well as many activities.

Resort Features

Facilities

Grand Palladium has a total of 540 rooms – 450 junior suites and 90 full suites. In the resort complex, you’ll find ten different restaurants, three of which are buffet-style, as well as 13 bars scattered throughout. Their beachfront restaurant specializes in seafood and has a charming view of the ocean. In addition to the eating and drinking spots, you’ll also find a casino and a shopping center on the grounds.

Guests have access to four separate pools, each with Jacuzzi tubs, bars, and there’s even a river at one of them. Some facilities are shared with Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, which is a neighboring resort owned by the same company.

Tryall Golf is an 18-hole course, also shared by Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, with caddies and carts available. You’ll also find other sports facilities in the complex, including a gym, three tennis courts, two volleyball nets, a basketball court, and a soccer field. As a guest at the Grand Palladium Jamaica, you’d have access to all the above facilities as part of the all-inclusive package.

Activities

Aside from taking advantage of the resort’s facilities, you can also partake in several classes and activities at Grand Palladium Jamaica. Water sports at the beach, darts, mini golf, and aerobics are just a handful of things you can check out. Grand Palladium caters for keen swimmers, with both the beach and the many pools offering plenty of changes of scenery.

How Grand Palladium Jamaica Compares to Similar Resorts

Shopping around for the best deal can be a nightmare. With so many comparison and review sites to sift through, it can be time-consuming and even a little overwhelming to find what you want. We picked out five other top Jamaican resorts for you to look at, and to see how they measure up with Grand Palladium Jamaica.

How we reviewed

We use TripAdvisor’s five-star rating system to measure each resort, based on customer satisfaction. We pick out key features of each, such as price, amenities, and location, as well as complaints and praises from their reviews, to give you a balanced impression. The following resorts are not listed in a particular order.

Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall

This resort is located in Montego Bay and is also beachfront. Although it’s possible to find deals online at between $300 and $500, regular pricing tends to be between $700 and $900 per night. They offer similar facilities to Grand Palladium Jamaica, including pools, restaurants, bars, a spa, and private beaches. They also have activities like snorkeling, sailing, and exercise classes.

Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall has an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.0 on TripAdvisor out of over 3,500 reviews at the time of writing. Positive comments mention excellent service, incredible food, and a peaceful setting. The few complaints talk of long waits for restaurants, broken air conditioning, and not being great value for money.

It’s more expensive than Grand Palladium Jamaica for what seems to be a similar setup. If you can get a good deal, then it’s worth it, but this again depends on when you book, what kind of room you want, and what time of year you’re traveling.

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica

Prices per night are much more like those of Grand Palladium Jamaica, in the $200 to $450 range. You can only book through the Grand Bahia Principe website, so there’s less chance of finding a cheaper deal anywhere. However, they do have special offers for certain times of the year, so it would be worth checking those before committing to anything – you can bag a room for between $100 and $200 per night that way.

Additional charges apply for things like treatments at the spa, laundry services, late check-out, and scuba classes. The Grand Bahia Principe all-inclusive package only includes three dinners per week in their a la carte restaurants, as opposed to all your meals at Grand Palladium Jamaica.

Their TripAdvisor ratings average at 4.0 out of 5.0 stars from over 12,000 customer reviews at the time of writing. Positive sentiments from happy customers include great beaches, clean rooms, and good service. Other customers had less satisfactory experiences with staff members, as well as issues with rooms being canceled without warning or not receiving the rooms they had paid for (such as ocean-view or adjoining for guests with children).

Sunscape Splash Montego Bay

Prices at Sunscape Splash Montego Bay are cheaper than those of Grand Palladium Jamaica, with nightly fees ranging between $150 and $250 on average. It seems to be the best spot for those traveling with kids, as they have plenty of activities and a water park. Unlimited food and drinks are included in the price of your all-inclusive package, as well as several of the organized exercise classes and water sports. Additional fees may apply for things like golfing and scuba diving.

TripAdvisor reviewers have given this resort an average of 4.0 stars out of 5.0. That comes from an average of just over 7,000 ratings at the time of writing. Happy customers rave about Sunscape Splash Montego Bay’s stunning views, great service, and tasty buffet food. Complaints include towel shortages, slightly run-down conditions like missing tiles in the pool, and issues with getting staff to follow through on reported problems.

Jewel Paradise Cove Resort & Spa Runaway Bay, Curio Collection by Hilton

Jewel Paradise Cove is in Runaway Bay, further east along the coast from Montego Bay. Prices can be anywhere between $200 and $600 – if you manage to get one of the lower rates, it’s comparable to the price range of Grand Palladium Jamaica. Room service, airport shuttle, and movie nights by the pool are included in the all-inclusive package. Jewel Paradise Cove also has the same amenities as the other resorts we looked at – pools, bars, restaurants, and beaches, as well as exercise classes and water activities.

This resort has an average rating of 4.5 out of 5.0 stars from over 3,500 reviews. Positive comments mention great service, lovely beaches, and good food. Guests also liked that the complex is small enough that you don’t have to take a shuttle to the other side.

Some reviewers, however, found the food was lacking. People also complain of a shabby interior and watered down alcoholic beverages. Hilton has a reputation for being luxurious, so these complaints are something of a surprise.

Secrets St. James Montego Bay

A single night’s stay at Secrets St. James Montego Bay can cost anywhere between $200 and $400, which is about average for our list. The resort also features a spa, where you can purchase treatments for an additional fee. All food and drinks come as part of the all-inclusive package, so no need to worry about that. Aside from scuba diving lessons, catamaran sailing, shopping, and tours, all their activities are also covered by the package.

Secrets St. James has a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.0 from over 7,000 reviews at the time of writing. Positive reviews mention well-kept grounds, excellent food, and friendly staff. The few negative reviews talk of long waits for food, poor housekeeping service, and generally not being good value for money.
