America Friends of Jamaica 31st Annual Hummingbird Gala
America Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) held their 31st Annual Hummingbird Gala in Times Square NYC on Thursday October 25, 2012. AFJ continues to be a true friend to Jamaica’s social and economic conditions. The Gala was attended by JetBlue Airways Chief Executive Officer Dave Barger who was honored for his support of Jamaica. In attendance were Heads of Tourism Dr. Wykeham McNeil and Mr. John Lynch who presented Mr. Barger with the honor. Director of AFJ Ms Manuel Goren and her team have been doing an amazing job with AFJ.
Who Supported the Cause
The event was supported by the United States Ambassador to Jamaica Pamela E. Bridgewater along with the two former United State Ambassador to Jamaica, Sue McCourt Cob and Brenda LaGrange-Johnson. Jamaica Consul General Herman LaMont and former Consul General Geneive Brown-Metzger along with Bullzii Marketing President & CEO Andrea Bullens and former council member Ms Una Clarke were all in attendance showing great support. Former WNBA star player and Jamaican born Simone Edwards who played with Seattle Storm was in attendance. Simone who always makes herself available when it comes to giving back to Jamaica said, “It’s great to support AFJ because of their tangible support in Jamaica.” Bob Marley’s former manager Chris Blackwell, Developer James Goren and actor/singer Leon supported the caused. In addition, the non profit organization Director Ms Manuela Goren and actor/singer Leon stopped by WPIX TV in NYC to promote the event. The Hummingbird Gala was attended by too many folks to name but their presence was appreciated by all.
