PM Portia Simpson-Miller at the United Nation General Assembly with their 193-members came to a close in New York City. Jamaica’s Prime Minister Ms. Portia Simpson-Miller used her time at the General Assembly on September 27, 2012. To call on the international communities for aids in the development of Jamaica and other small Caribbean islands.
During her speech, PM Simpson-Miller spoke on behalf of the Middle-Income States. Her main focus was to ensure that these countries were not overlooked by the international community. She reminded the world leaders that the Middle-Income Countries are still faced with poverty in addition to high energy and food prices. Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller reminded the foreign leaders that she is from one of those countries were facing hardships.

The Prime Minister explained that “Jamaica is a nation, small in size but enormous in spirit. A nation with a people whose speed defies the laws of physics, whose musical messages have inspired positive and revolutionary global changes and whose minds have provided the world with myriad solutions in areas including science, law and medicine. Yet, many nations like Jamaica have such great possibility and potential that are not reflected in, or reflective of, its present economic indicators.”
Prime Minister Simpson-Miller was able to share her views on the issues Jamaica was facing. This issue is also affecting other countries. As a results, we need with and thanked the United Nation and the international for their support. The Prime Minister talk about the Jamaican national hero, Marcus Mosiah Garvey.
She talked about the many mothers are facing for basic needs. This includes children been abuse.

her commitment to strengthing the local and national programs. This would eleminate violende against children
